As UAA student employees we sadly cannot always be in the office. But don’t you worry, KRUA’s staff are often available to meet outside of their normal office hours, just reach out through their emails and an appointment can be set up! We are happy to make special arrangements if you need to come outside our normal hours. Please contact either:

KRUA is a student-run radio station, so our hours may become more stringent during midterms and finals week. Regular work hours are also likely to change each semester due to differing class schedules. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this.

 KRUA 88.1FM IS A STUDENT-RUN RADIO STATION BASED OUT OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ALASKA ANCHORAGE.

KRUA is a student-run station. Students must be admitted and enrolled in a University of Alaska degree-seeking program with a minimum of 6 credit hours for undergraduate students OR 3 credit hours for graduate students during regular semesters of employment.

Students must have at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) for most positions at KRUA.

Volunteer Coordinator

This is the Volunteer Coordinator position at KRUA 88.1FM, the student radio station at the University of Alaska Anchorage.

The KRUA Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the recruitment, coordination and record retention of volunteers, the organization of station promotions and live events, the management of the volunteer newsletter, and other duties as assigned. Applicants must demonstrate: understanding of FCC regulations; experience with station equipment, on-air broadcast and digital audio production; effective communication skills, both verbally and written; willingness to learn and teach; ability to work with minimal supervision, and; previous experience working in an environment that requires public contact. Familiarity with preparation and development of other media, such as video or multimedia content is preferred. Completion of the first two KRUA volunteer trainings, consisting of voice tracking and public service announcements, is required within three months of hiring.

The candidate should have a willingness to obtain a working knowledge of ethical standards of the media industry and First Amendment rights.
